![]() When it comes to the guava, you want to make sure you’re using a guava nectar. It’s a reasonably priced tequila with a smooth taste. You don’t want to waste the top-shelf stuff, as it will be masked by other flavors, but definitely don’t settle for the bottom of the barrel stuff. So what tequila is best for making margaritas? Well, my preference is a decent mid-shelf silver tequila. We’ve come a long way! I started out with an AWFUL cheap tequila, and not nearly enough of it. We’ve upped the ounces and upgraded to a better tequila. Over the last few weeks, John and I have been experimenting trying to find the best combinations to create the perfect margarita. My favorite guava products aren’t always easy to find in traditional grocery stores, but guava nectar has always been available at all of our grocery stores no matter where in the country we lived. Guava has always been a favorite fruit, and since I wanted to stick with a true tropical and Mexican-inspired margarita flavor, it’s what I went with for these ultimate frozen margaritas. I prefer salt on this margarita to give it that sweet and salty taste, but if you prefer sugar, feel free to do so! If using sugar, instead of using lime to wet the rim of your glass, I suggest to use water. I am going to forewarn you, that if you love guava, you may be drinking this nectar straight from the bottle. You can either use it to mix it with other ingredients to make cocktails or drink it on its own. Guava Nectar is a non-carbonated beverage created from the pulp of the guava fruit giving it the guava flavor. If you want to make it a little sweeter, feel free to add some honey into the mix. But just because they are sweet, that doesn’t mean they wont creep up on you! What is in a guava strawberry margarita?Īs you can guess, it consists of guava nectar, strawberries, lemon, tequila, and triple sec. GUAVA! This margarita is extremely light and refreshing and perfect to drink at the poolside. You deserve it! Strawberry season spans a very short time period, so when we are in it we have to take full advantage of it! Obviously I combined it with my favorite ingredient.
